You may "think" that way but once you say it, it would be considered discrimination. I have seen one colleague lost his job when he made such comment. But you're in Taiwan so may be safe for now, I hope it won't incite others to think that way. BTW, I made such remarks is not because I'm old.

Everyone gets old but that does not mean old people are useless. I know you specifically pointed to those very few in Central Bank but I believe avoiding using such comment  will only do you good - anywhere on this planet.

Just my personal opinion.

I respect your comments.

Elder is not an issue, but getting old therefore do nothing with regret of admiting that we cannot do anything is something wrong, while these guys are at in high ranking positions to make critial decisions for the country.

Innovation development is required, not only in private companies but also in the goverment officers who take salaries from the people.  Some of the seniors are doing good, but the comments were leaved to those elder with neither motivation to make things better nor agressive thinking to serve to the citizen.

I hope this is clear.

I am sorry to hear about your fear to state the truth and your colleague lost his job.   I may be able to offer him a job in Taiwan but this really depends on his expertise and if he could work at Taiwan.

The indicated "safe" is a democracy achievement and one of the outstanding benefits living in Taiwan, that you could say something straightfoward and to the point WITHOUT fears.

Again, the statement is not "EVERY elder in the central bank has to retire" but to some elder who reponded to people he was not able to do anything in the position.  My statement responded to the comments made earlier on level-5.  I will recommend you to look into the discussion chain instead of comment directly without the scenario understandings.

But anyway, I appreciate your attention to my comments.

Mr. 小葉先生,

You have great track record here and I can see that, without a doubt, you're a very decent person.

I did read the entire thread. Unfortunately I was judging it by using a different standard. That's my fault.

I've lived in the US for almost 30 years and I understand what you mean by "you could say something straightfoward and to the point WITHOUT fears". There are certain limitations on such comment and I think you realize that.

I fully understand that you absolutely meant no harm when saying that but  in the western world, if such happens in company email, for example, that means troubles, regardless what your original intend is. Most companies here spend lots of time and money to educate people what not to say during work(yes this thread has nothing to do with work). This is done with good reasons. All one has to do is to remove the word "elder" and leave everything there. Good lord, that sounds like I'm living in a  communist country.  Obviously the culture here is a little different.

Most of the readers here probably think that I'm super overly sensitive on reacting to this thread. Well, I can tell you that I was not going to post anything but I thought it may be a good opportunity to exchange some ideas in a different perspective. If you have the experience on posting comments in a foreign forum, it is always a good practice not to do so since readers may judge you differently. But again, here is different obviously.

in US, we have to be very careful when joking about race, sex, religion, age......etc. Make sure it is only during very private conversation. Even that, there were a few politicians lost their campaign because someone revealed some private conversation recording. I've learned some hard lessons here when I was younger. It is perfectly ok to be a member of Ku Klux Klan (KKK) if you don't care how people think about you. I'm not sure most of the readers here understand that. If you have the chance conducting international business, this could be something to remember. I've seen people lost their business opportunity just by making fun with their potential clients on such topic.

I just want to remind readers that there are significant differences between the east and west on such subject and I do apologize for wasting your and other readers' time since this is way off the topic.

Now let's talk about stamps.

Very loud and clear. I rest my case (not sure if I accidentally deleted my previous comments or someone else did that). I understand it is not appropriate to talk about that here now.

回到主題. 國人是否很排斥私人公司製造的紀念幣.政府不做,自己做
這裡不少,也有一些人買.尤其是金幣.
